           HARMONY IN HIDING
A Play in Two Acts by Michael-Paul Thomsett

Adapted from the book, “Hiding Horst: Memoirs of a Jewish Boy As told by Horst “Fred” Ferber”, written by Becky White

DIRECTOR: Robert Estes

1929 - 2007
This is a true story of a twelve-year-old boy, Horst Ferber, forced into hiding in Nazi-occupied Holland.  Before the war he had a few months of piano lessons, learning the major and minor scales and a numeric melodic system. While in hiding, he used this limited knowledge to teach himself how to play the piano using only his imagination and a tabletop.  After the war ended he was able to sit down at a piano and play beautifully, proving to his father that his destiny did not point towards him becoming a doctor, but a musician.

Harmony in Hiding is not “another holocaust survivor story”, but the inspirational tale of a boy’s will to follow his dream despite all odds.
