WAY OUT WEST ( A Comedy, Really)
A World Premiere!

Written by Joel Eis
Directed by Buzz Halsing
Produced by Tinka Ross & Michael Cohen

San Rafael playwright Joel Eis adapted Nickolai Gogol’s classic farce The Inspector General, reset in 1848 San Francisco with overtones of the Wild West. Pre-Gold Rush San Francisco is depicted as a small, dusty, one-horse town with a corrupt mayor, his wife and daughter bent on improving their social positions and a posse of misfit officials. Imagine the flurry of activity when a letter arrives stating that a Government Inspector is on his way, incognito, to look over the town and ….the books! Adding to the confusion is the arrival of a pair of con men, intending to fleece them all before jumping on the last stage out of town… Will they be caught? Will love conquer deceit?  Will the Feds catch up/catch on to everyone?

Under the direction of Buzz Halsing, the Ross Alternative Works production of Way Out West becomes a no-holds- barred stampede toward a madcap finish as the sidewinders run rings around the local yokels. Everyone in this town deserves to be tarred and feathered. . . .or laughed at. And laugh you will at this hilarious expose of corrupt and bumbling government officials.
