About This Play and Casting:
When a traumatized young woman experiencing Cotard’s Delusion does the logical thing and reports to the local morgue, she discovers that the mortician is wrestling with his own traumatic past. Cotard’s Delusion is a rare psychological disorder in which the afflicted believes that they are dead, dying, or don’t exist at all. A somewhat more common condition is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in which a person experiences uncontrollable and recurring thoughts (obsessions), engages in repetitive behaviors (compulsions), or both. Many times, these disorders are experienced in response to a traumatic event.
Characters:
BOATSWAIN (Pronounced Boson) – he/him/his, any race/ethnicity, about 50 but looks older. Gruff, worn, haggard. A forensic pathologist at a hospital morgue.
